Dear IRC users,
At around 15:43 UTC today, our primary IRC network at
irc.interlinked.me (CNAME irc.adelielinux.org) experienced a
disruption (Netsplit) and it appears that Services have gone
offline in the process. Some channels require registration to
access, which is not currently possible.
15:43 -!- Netsplit
joestar.interlinked.me <-> ninetails.interlinked.me quits: ...
Note that we (Adélie) do not operate our own IRC infrastructure
and therefore do not have direct control over the situation.
We had been discussing the possibility of moving to a larger
network, such as Libera or OFTC, to avoid situations like this
and to make it easier for interested folks to join our channels.
The main reason to stay with Interlinked is that we are on
favorable terms with the network operators and have significant
influence on how the network is run, including further webchat
integrations, IP cloaks for contributors if desired, setting up
and debugging relays for, i.e., matrix, telegram, etc.
Updates about the current situation will be provided as replies
to this thread. Discussion about future IRC directions should be
a separate thread; if anyone feels so inclined, please do so.
Zach
