Hi, I have successfully installed Adelie on my Lenovo laptop, but there is no active
wireless interface. The rfkill command did list a Lenovo wlan unblocked interface, however
dhcpcd wlan0 fail to detect it. Also, I have noticed that the whole /usr/lib/firmware
folder was missing, so I tried to download and extract the linux-firmware package to that
location. Unfortunately, this didn't fix the problem, it looks like the system is not
able to load any firmware. My laptop ships with an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160
Controller, an Intel i5-4258U processor and a dual gfx card Radeon R5 M230/Intel Iris
Graphics 5100. Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure why Plasma isn't
detecting CK2; it's possible they removed support in 5.18. If
someone
has time to inspect that, it would be helpful.
I think that they still support it, indeed Obarun is a systemd-free build that uses CK2
and they offer a working 5.19 Plasma. They experienced the same issue once (CK2 not
started by sddm, power buttons disappeared) and they fixed it with a new sddm release. It
really looks like sddm is not able to start CK2, and unfortunately the sddm devs have
decided to drop CK2 and switch to elogind without any further support upstream
(https://github.com/sddm/sddm/issues/173). Also, inspecting the sddm.log, I noticed that
trying to shut down or reboot the system from the buttons, a warning appears:
DAEMON: QDBusConnection: warning: blocking call took a long time (481 ms, max for this
thread is 200 ms) to service "org.freedesktop.ConsoleKit" path
"/org/freedesktop/ConsoleKit/Manager" interface
"org.freedesktop.ConsoleKit.Manager" member "CanPowerOff"

I've noticed that on x86 machines only logout is shown in Plasma, but
upon logging out, the SDDM interface has reboot/power off in the top
right corner. Those buttons do work. I'm not sure why Plasma isn't
detecting CK2; it's possible they removed support in 5.18. If someone
has time to inspect that, it would be helpful.
but from a terminal /sbin/reboot,poweroff,shutdown should all work regardless, whether the
user has rights to use them (or sudo /sbin/shutdown should work if your user belongs to
wheel group) it has to do with /etc/group and/or policy kit.
Could it be that dbus also in not running properly along with ck? In Obarun dbus must run
for the entire system as root and as user for plasma stuff to work. How it can be
achieved here so plasma functions can be completed I wouldn't know. I'd never use
it myself.

These issues sound related if the insufficient privileges issue was
raised by the NetworkManager GUI. Can I ask which desktop environment
you're using with sddm? The sddm session file is most likely not
starting a new consolekit session correctly. We recently fixed this for
the MATE desktop environment but I believe the other DEs still have this
problem.

Yes, it's definitely a permission issue because i can't even run the power
options as a user. My DE is Plasma, and indeed I checked different services
like dbus, consolekit, looks like they are all up and running.

First of all, sorry about your messages getting stuck in the moderation
queue. The reason was that you're not subscribed to the list, and nobody
was watching the queue to see them getting put there.
If you manually install firmware, it needs to go into /lib/firmware, not
/usr/lib/firmware.
You can also install the "linux-firmware-other" package from APK Fission
for your wireless card. Future ISOs will include these firmware packages
with the user's option to utilize them or not. You would want to add
these repositories:
http://distfiles.apkfission.net/adelie/current/main/
http://distfiles.apkfission.net/adelie/current/nonfree/
